Destructoid's latest retro gaming podcast was all about forgotten game franchises. Naturally Streets of Rage was one of top ten games that need a new sequel.
It was pretty funny to hear that one of the guys on the show said that there was a sequel: Beats Of Rage.
It's mentioned after 36:10 minutes of the show.

I don't understand your comment. Beats of Rage is the original game Senile Team made because Streets of Rage 4 was never made. The mods you mention are modified versions of the original BOR. |

| | Apologies, I am aware that Senile Team made a full and complete sequel to Streets of Rage. THe reason I used the term mod was because I was under the impression that, along with the original content, the game contained sprites and artwork from King of Fighters.
